School lunches

Main School - School Dinners:

The children eat in one sitting in the School Hall. A well balanced and healthy meal is provided and we encourage the children to eat a little of everything. We would not force a child to eat something they do not like, if we find he/she is not eating very much we will let you know.

All children are supervised in the hall during lunchtime regardless of whether they have a hot dinner or a packed lunch.

How to pay for school dinners:
A menu is sent home from school at the beginning of each month, along with a monthly bill. Parents can select the meals their children would like to have and calculate the cost for that month. The bill should then be returned to the school office promptly by parents, with payment. Should there be any credits from previous monthly bills, then they will be carried forward to the current bill.

It is also important that if at any time a child to change from school meals to packed lunches or vice versa, this is done at the end of each month.

A current school dinner menu can be found on our useful documents page.

FS1 snacks:
In Foundation Stage 1, all children will have a daily snack. Parents will be asked to contribute €30 a term towards the cost of this snack and will be billed at the beginning of each month.

All snacks provided in this setting will be balanced and carefully selected to broaden children's taste experiences and encourage healthy eating.

Should children have any dietry requirements, we ask that parents inform the school as soon as possible and preferably during the initial registration.

Playtime snacks:
Children may wish to have a snack at mid-morning break. This must be a healthy snack and be seperate from their lunch boxes, should they bring one. Fruit bars, cereals bars and fruit are encouraged and help promote healthy eating.

We encourage the children to place their mid-morning snacks in a 'snack box' provided in the classroom. This helps to ensure that children are not taking things from their lunch boxes.

Fruit is provided at break times free of charge for all children, including FS1.

Information on healthy snacks can be found on our useful documents page.
